This was a while back, but I just remembered it. This is the kind of thing for which I created this blog: it's Jubilee, a giant stage show in Las Vegas. While some may think it's great (or terrible) because it's an adult show, that was not the peak of the ridiculousness for me. The most absurd thing is that one of its parts is a dramatization of the sinking of the Titanic. Yes, really.
Yes, they decided to take the sinking of a ship and the loss of lives as the starting place for a big-budget production number. And, they sandwiched it into a show with contortionists and dozens of topless showgirls? Oy.
The good news is that it most certainly crosses the line into kitsch, so it's not just a painful display of boorishness. I'd almost recommend it -- almost.
Here's a recent review from the Las Vegas Sun.
An amalgam? Nay, a pile. A pile of goofy things that I want to make sure are all in one place.

Belated Happy Birthday to Adam West
Here's to the man whose Batman will live on past all the others.
Let's face it: the world would be a far worse place without the great physicality of how he runs to doors that are about to close or those who will, inevitably, get away -- but only for the moment. And we will always be grateful for his deep, resonant voice offering Robin (Burt Ward) preposterously framed moral lessons.
My favorite is when Catwoman (Julie Newmar) has done something to Batman and Robin so that they're about to pass out and speak literally as they are falling to the floor.
Robin: You can't trust a woman.
Batman: Don't make generalizations, Robin, though in this case you are correct.
(They land on the floor, unconscious.)
So,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Where twitter imitates life
I'm new on twitter, but couldn't just help but notice this:
I think we all wish that we could change -- and even stop -- the worldwide trends of being slapped or looking really stupid, but I think twitter is holding out false hopes with this kind of thing.

PLEASE, I beg of you
Stop typing in the men's room!
I don't know what it's like for women, but I hear it so often and it's awful.

Idiocracization
Idiocracization refers to the process by which life becomes more like the movie Idiocracy.
[Update, 9/25/13: I'm not sure why I posted this. It may have been a brilliant, Stanislavski-esque embodiment of the stupidity I was attempting to describe. It may simply have been foolish. History will have to decide, but I'm not optimistic.]
